Welcome to Swellness Wellness!

Holistic behavioral health and wellness care, for mind, body, and spirit.

Swellness Wellness, LLC is a trauma-informed behavioral health and holistic wellness practice. Swellness offers individual life-coaching, individual therapy, corporate or group trainings and workshops, public speaking engagements, and organizational consultation focused on trauma-responsive interventions and holistic treatment of the whole person, mind, body, and spirit.

Founded in 2022 by CEO and Director Laura “Faye” Perkins, LISW-S, CTRP-C, TRCC-II, CIMHP, Swellness Wellness promotes a holistic approach to wellness, based on a combination of the latest peer-reviewed scientific research in neuroscience, complementary and alternative interventions, and ancient traditions that have been handed down by our ancestors, like yoga and meditation. We understand how important it is for caregivers and helping professionals to address the stress and exposure to trauma in their work. Perkins has extensive experience counseling and consulting with other mental health and helping professionals and caregivers and offers confidential life coaching and therapy, without the stigma some professionals fear.

At Swellness Wellness, we believe that once individuals understand how their thoughts, feelings, and physiology have been shaped by their life experiences, they can be empowered to reach their greatest potential. In a welcoming and inclusive environment, you will be met with compassion every step of the way, on your journey to Swellness.

Individual Therapy, Counseling, or Wellness Coaching

As a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW-S), Certified Trauma and Resilience practitioner- Clinical (CTRP-C), and Certified Integrative Mental Health Practitioner (CIMHP), I am equipped to give my clients the tools and strategies they need to effect positive changes in their lives and reach their greatest potential. I focus on my clients' strengths and resilience to help them develop a realistic and achievable plan to reach their goals for their mental and physical wellness. I meet my clients where they are, allowing them to select the areas within my scope that are of greatest priority to them. Coaching might focus on stress management, achieving personal goals, enhancing self-esteem, reducing anxiety or depressive symptoms, developing capacity for mindfulness, incorporating yoga and other mind+body practices for healing trauma, culinary medicine, and integrative mental health. Although coaching differs from therapy, as it does not require a diagnosed mental disorder, I do incorporate therapeutic techniques drawn from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Polyvagal Theory. In a safe and supportive space, I will help you to understand and develop skills for managing stress, painful emotions and experiences, and relationship difficulties. Together we will uncover the ways in which your life experiences have impacted your ability to carry out a self-care plan. No matter where you are today, you are at the perfect place to begin to journey. I will walk alongside you as you move away from the maladaptive patterns that hold you back. I invite you to take the first step in moving toward Swellness.

Organizational or Professional Consultation

With nearly 20 years of systems work with diverse populations, combined with my training in trauma-responsive care and holistic approaches to behavioral health and wellness, I can offer a unique perspective for enhancing your staff's understanding and response to their traumatized clients. I offer consultation to professionals, treatment teams, and organizations who support clients with trauma. Consultation can be focused on trauma-responsive client intervention, or to support staff who are experiencing or at risk of experiencing secondary traumatic stress, vicarious trauma, burnout, and compassion fatigue.

Training

I love to share my experience and hand down the practice-based wisdom I've accumulated over 20 years of service, by training clinicians, child welfare staff, caregivers, and other helpers and healers all over the state of Ohio. I have the skill set and training experience to help your staff learn about trauma that impacts their clients, or secondary trauma that affects helping professionals and caregivers. As a Certified Clinical Trauma and Resilience Practitioner and a Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional, I offer training in the following topic areas, and I would be glad to design a customized curriculum, tailored to fit your agency's needs: trauma, trauma-informed care and trauma-responsive care, burnout, secondary trauma, self-care, mindfulness, and holistic wellness.
